A New York man has pleaded guilty to importing and selling a counterfeit drug worth more than $1.1 billion, after he bought the drugs from a Hong Kong pharmacy.
The British man, who was sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in the scheme, was arrested for illegally importing and selling the drugs, which he claimed were made in China.
The British man was found to be under 18 and was not allowed to have any medical tests done on him after he was caught.
A total of 28 boxes of the fake Viagra drug, which was imported from China, were seized during a three-month investigation.
The counterfeit drug, which is manufactured by Pfizer, is being used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in patients with heart failure.
Mr Khan, who was sentenced in November last year for illegally importing and selling the fake drugs, was charged with conspiracy to traffic in and sell drugs, in relation to the sale of the counterfeit drug, while also possessing and distributing a counterfeit version of the drug.
The court heard that a number of defendants in the case were also arrested in Hong Kong and were found to be in possession of the fake drugs.
He was ordered to stop distributing the fake drugs as he had been charged with conspiracy, which was later revoked after he was found guilty.
In a plea deals to the government, Mr Khan pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to traffic in and sell drugs. The defendants also pleaded guilty to the conspiracy to traffic in and sell drugs.
According to the plea deals, Mr Khan was found to be under 18 when he was arrested by the police in October last year.
The investigation was carried out by the police.
A total of eight defendants, including the defendant, have been arrested, and Mr Khan is currently under trial. The case was investigated and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian Baker.
